# Autodesk Build

> Set up the Autodesk Build integration one record type at a time, from submittals and RFIs to documents and drawings, with review results posted as ACC issues.

The Autodesk Build integration syncs submittals, RFIs, and documents between a Specset project and an Autodesk Construction Cloud project, and publishes Specset specifications and drawings to it. Connect Autodesk once for your organization, link each project, then decide per record type what moves in each direction. The mechanics shared by every provider (connecting, linking, the Overview, copying settings, importing a project) are on the [Integrations overview](https://docs.specset.com/docs/integrations); this page covers what is specific to Autodesk Build.

## Before you connect

1. Open **Org Settings → Integrations**, click **New**, and click **Connect** next to **Autodesk Build**.
2. Sign in with an Autodesk account that is an account administrator or a project administrator on the projects you plan to link. If the account belongs to more than one ACC hub, choose the hub to connect.
3. Approve the access Specset asks for. Specset acts as that user in Autodesk Build, so it can only see and change what the user can.

Then link the project from **Project Settings → Integrations** in the project sidebar, or import it from the Projects page. Each Specset project links to one Autodesk Build project.

## Submittals

Submittals sync in both directions with a scope per direction, and Specset can review them as they arrive.

- **Autodesk → Specset**: **Create new submittals** and **Update existing submittals**, each with a scope (All, Draft, Not Closed, Open, or Ball in Court only). **Check Autodesk for changes** sets the schedule, or leave it on Manually and use **Poll now**.
- **Specset → Autodesk**: **Create in Autodesk** and **Update in Autodesk**, again with a scope, and **Send changes** either when a submittal changes or only when someone pushes it.
- **AI review**: turn on **Review automatically** to start a review when a submittal arrives or changes. **Approver response** posts the outcome as the reviewer's response; **ACC issue** creates or updates an ACC Issue with the review summary and the review spreadsheet when a review is finalized, so the findings show up in the Issues tool alongside everything else on the project.
- **Mappings**: submittal types, response statuses, and custom fields are matched by name. Open a section to change a match.

## RFIs

RFIs sync the same way: **Create new RFIs** and **Update existing RFIs** from Autodesk with a scope (All or Ball in Court only), **Create in Autodesk** and **Update in Autodesk** for Specset RFIs, and a schedule or manual poll. Responses travel with the RFI.

## Documents

Documents sync from chosen folders in Autodesk Docs.

1. Click **Choose folders** and tick the folders to sync. Everything below a folder is included.
2. Turn on **Create new documents** and **Update existing documents** to bring files and new versions into Specset.
3. Turn on **Create in Autodesk** and **Update in Autodesk** to send Specset documents and new versions to the matching folder.

Synced folders are chosen per project; they are not copied by **Copy settings…**.

## Specifications and drawings

Autodesk Build does not expose the files behind its specification sections and drawing sheets, so on Autodesk projects these sync **to** Autodesk only. On each page the source of truth is **Specset** or **Don't sync**:

- **Specset**: publish Specset sections and sheets to Autodesk Build, and send new revisions of linked ones. Turn on **Send** to push automatically or push by hand from the specification or drawing list.
- **Don't sync**: keep them separate in each system.

To bring specifications and drawings into Specset from Autodesk, sync the folders that hold them from the [Documents](#documents) page; Specset processes the PDFs like any other upload.

## Daily logs and photos

Daily log and photo sync are available on Procore only. See [Procore sync settings](https://docs.specset.com/docs/procore).

## Troubleshooting

- **Records stopped syncing after a password change.** Autodesk revokes the connection; open **Org Settings → Integrations** and click **Reconnect** on the integration.
- **A project is not listed when linking.** The connected Autodesk user must be a member of the project in Autodesk Build with access to the tools being synced.
- **A sync failed.** Errors are recorded in the project's activity history with the record they concern, and the record's own sync status shows the message.
