A Specset project is the home for one job's documents, specifications, drawings, submittals, RFIs, and agent conversations. Specset is fully web-based, so there's nothing to install: sign in from your browser and you land on your organization's **Projects** page. If you'd rather have it on your home screen, see [Install the app](https://docs.specset.com/docs/install-the-app).

## Before you start

Creating projects requires a Manager or Admin role. See [Members & roles](https://docs.specset.com/docs/team-roles).

If Specset shows **No Organization Access** after you sign in, you aren't a member of an organization yet. Ask your organization administrator for an invitation. If it shows **Pending invitations**, click **Accept** next to your organization.

## Create the project

1. On the **Projects** page, click **New** in the upper right.
2. In **New project**, enter the project's **Name**.
3. Optionally, choose a **Parent Folder** to file the project in a project folder. If you started inside a folder, it is already selected.
4. Under **Members**, add the people or teams who should join. You are included by default. Teams are managed under **Members → Teams**. See [Teams](https://docs.specset.com/docs/team-roles#teams).
5. Click **Create**. Specset creates the project and opens it on its **Documents** page.

You can add or remove people later from the project's **Members** page.

## Add documents and ask a first question

1. In **Documents**, click **Upload** and choose your specification and drawing files.
2. Turn on **Auto-publish** if detected specification sections and drawing sheets should publish without a review step, then click **Process N Documents**. See [Uploading documents](https://docs.specset.com/docs/documents) for the other options.
3. Wait for processing to finish. Published content appears under **Specifications** and **Drawings**. With **Auto-publish** off, publish it from **Specifications → Spec Sets** and **Drawings → Plan Sets**.
4. Open **Chat** and ask a question about the project, then follow the references in the answer back to the source documents. See [Ask the project](https://docs.specset.com/docs/project-qa).

## Common questions

**Don't see the New button?** Members can't create projects or upload core documents. Ask one of your organization's managers or admins for the right level of access.

**Can't find a project?** The list shows projects you are a member of. Managers and Admins can open the filter and set **Visibility** to **All Projects**. Set **Status** to **Archived** or **All** to include archived projects.

**Is the job already in Procore or Autodesk Build?** Managers and Admins can create the Specset project from it instead: open the **⋯** menu on the **Projects** page and choose **Import**. See [Import a project](https://docs.specset.com/docs/integrations#import-a-project).

**Starting a job like one you've already set up?** Managers and Admins can open the existing project's row menu and choose **Duplicate**, then pick which content to copy into the new project. Submittals, RFIs, issues, and members are never copied.
