Each [submittal](https://docs.specset.com/docs/submittals) review opens to a dashboard summarizing its compliance findings. Inspect the issues and compliance matrix to see which specification sections and drawing sheets were checked, then follow their [references](https://docs.specset.com/docs/search-and-references#check-a-source-reference) to verify the evidence.

The review can inspect visual content and spatial relationships in shop drawings as well as written product data. Its review plan identifies the specification sections and drawing sheets to check; the compliance matrix lets you inspect the individual checks and their evidence.

- **Work in bulk** — select several issues to confirm them or dismiss them with a reason.
- **Click any issue** — the AI marks up the submittal or drawing sheet exactly where the issue was caught, with issue details on the right-hand side.
- **Issues list view** — filter by **Non-compliant** or **Missing Info**, and use the available **Confirmed** and **Dismissed** filters to revisit your decisions. Findings the review judges too small to raise arrive already dismissed as **Minor**; re-open one to put it back in the queue.
- **Compliance matrix** — a breakdown by spec section and plan sheet of exactly what was reviewed.
- **Annotate directly** — mark up, comment, and apply your organization's stamps right in the review; annotations are saved.
- **Export** — open the review menu for **Download spreadsheet** or **Download review (PDF)**. Use **Annotate & download** to inspect and edit the marked-up PDF before sharing it.
- **Ask the agent** — engage with it about the issues found, and see a full audit history of the submittal.

## Resolve questions and inspect the markup

Review the questions that need your judgment or missing project information. A question can cover several related issues; inspect those issues before answering so the response addresses the whole group. Use issue-level confirmation or dismissal when the decision applies to only one finding, and record the reason for an accepted exception.

Select a finding to open the marked-up document with the issue details beside it. Follow the reference to the cited specification or drawing and compare it with the submitted information. You can add your own annotations before downloading the review.

## Review stamps

Upload your review stamps under **Org Settings → Stamps** in the [organization menu](https://docs.specset.com/docs/org-menu). When adding or editing a stamp, set **Submittal approver status** to the response it represents, such as Approved or Revise and Resubmit. Leave it blank for stamps that should not update a response. You can change the mapping on an existing stamp without uploading its PDF again.

In **Annotate & Download**, apply the mapped stamp. Its placement preview has an enabled **Update approver status** switch. Specset selects the reviewer when it can identify one unambiguously; otherwise, choose the reviewer whose response you are recording. Turn off the switch to apply only the stamp.

After the stamped PDF saves, the reviewer's response updates and the overall submittal approval status is recalculated. An empty returned date is filled in, while an existing date is preserved. If the response update fails, retry it from the dialog.

For a submittal with no reviewers, Specset can record the response under your name. Submittals linked to an external system need an existing reviewer from that system.
