# Members & roles

> Manage your organization's members on the Members page, with three roles (Admin, Manager, Member) that control who creates projects and uploads core documents.

Open **Members** under **Admin** in the organization sidebar to manage people, invitations, and roles. Expand **Members** to find **Teams**, where you manage groups of people.

## Members and roles

The Members grid shows each person's projects, teams, status, and organization role. Choose **Add member** to invite someone, or use a person's row menu to manage their membership.

Three roles control what people can do:

| Role | Permissions |
| --- | --- |
| **Admin** | Full rights, including IT administration. |
| **Manager** | Create [new projects](https://docs.specset.com/docs/getting-started) and upload core documents to those projects. Create and edit [checklists](https://docs.specset.com/docs/checklists) and their templates. Full facilities management: assets, locations, systems, products, companies, warranties, procedures, maintenance plans, the parts catalog, and work-order assignment and deletion. |
| **Member** | See all documents within a project; upload [submittals for review](https://docs.specset.com/docs/submittals); run a project's [checklists](https://docs.specset.com/docs/checklists). Execute [maintenance work](https://docs.specset.com/docs/maintenance): create and complete work orders, fill checklists, comment, log meter readings, and issue or restock spare parts. |

> **Note:** every role can engage with the Q&A agent and any other agents enabled for them.

A member's role can also be overridden on a project's **Members** page. For example, you can make a Member a Manager on one project. The project-level role takes precedence within that project.

## Teams

A team is a named group of people, such as your design coordination or field operations group. Managers and Admins can create and manage teams.

1. Expand **Members** in the organization sidebar and choose **Teams**.
2. Click **New**, name the team, and select its members.
3. Choose any projects the team should join, then click **Create team**.

You can also assign a team when creating a project, or from an existing project's **Members → Teams** page. Everyone on the team joins the project. When someone joins or leaves the team, their membership in the team's projects updates automatically.

Teams don't change anyone's role: people keep their org role unless you set a project role for them on the project's **Members** page. Someone added to a project themselves stays on it if their team is removed, and so does anyone with a project role.
