Contract review

On this page

Contract Review reads the project's contract documents and returns a review table covering changes, payment, scheduling, subcontracting, risk, document control, and closeout. Each finding explains what the documents say and points back to its source.

Start a review

  1. Add the relevant documents to the project. Include the agreement, amendments, conditions, and special provisions that apply. Publish specification files through Spec Sets.
  2. Open the project's Chat, type /, and choose Contract Review.
  3. Name the documents or package you want reviewed. Include any limits or priorities, then send the request.
  4. Open the review from the chat link. The table fills in as the agent works; a full review can take several minutes.

For example: “Review the agreement and Addendum 02 for bidding. Focus on payment, change notices, liquidated damages, and restrictions on working hours.”

If you do not name a document, the review looks for contract content in the project, including special provisions and Division 00–01. Name a particular subcontract or amendment when that is the intended scope.

Read the findings

Start with the higher-severity findings, then work through the relevant categories. Expand a row to read the full finding and open its citations to check the clause in context.

  • Finding: What the source documents establish, including amounts, dates, and conditions.
  • Severity: The review's assessment of an unfavorable clause or exposure.
  • Impact: Why the term matters to the project team.

A “not stated” result means the review did not establish that requirement from the material it read. Check whether a referenced exhibit, amendment, or agreement is missing before treating it as an omission in the contract itself.

Use the table to prepare questions and decisions for your estimating, project-management, or contract-review team. A severity flag is a review aid; your team decides what to accept, clarify, or negotiate.

Follow up and refine

Expand a row to edit its finding directly. For agent-led revisions, use Open chat on the artifact to return to the review's own conversation. Ask there to reconsider a finding, add context, or review an additional clause.

You can also ask questions such as “Which clause sets the notice deadline, and what happens if we miss it?” Open the cited source to check the answer in context.

When the documents change, identify the new package and request another review. A new run creates a separate review table; it does not automatically compare its findings with an earlier run.

Export and return later

Use Export on the table to download the findings as a spreadsheet. Keep the source references with the review so teammates can inspect the supporting language.

Return through Chat → History or the Artifacts library. For reusable checks beyond the standard contract review, create a custom skill.
